Smooth Velvet

Maura Harper rocks a one shoulder, deep red velvet mini dress, accessorised with a red broach, mega heels and a deep blue, vintage, fur lined coat.

Keeping the current Velvet trend in mind, this 1980s inspired look is perfect for the January party season!

Accessorising a simple dress can make all the difference, here I have added a broach to the shoulder of the dress to give a little bit of a glamourous edge to the outfit! With a messy bun, a few funky clips, some simple black eyes and red lips, you have a perfect party look for 2010!

A Luminous Beauty

Radiantly Beautiful, Maura Harper, lights up the night in a very trendy outfit!

It all started with a coat. Fashionistas are starting off the new year in style with oversized coats, and here in Nottingham we are no different.

We created a sophisticated, glamourous look, getting our inspiration from the 2010 Spring RTW Lanvin show, where the models' up-do hair made a stytlish statement. Add to that a 1920s inspired fringe dress, sparkly tights, mega heels and a vintage oversized coat and voila! You're set!

The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plane....

I spent a month in Bilbao (Spain) this summer, taking a course on Personal Shopping and Styling at the Creativity Zentrum. I had the pleasure of working with some very cool industry professionals, stylists Leticia Orue and Aran Azkarate and photographer Jose Morraja, as well as some very funky characters that also took the course.

We had such a great time learning about fashion history, fashion for film, and looking through all the latest trends that the month went by too quickly!

By the end of the month, during the last week, we had to create three looks, a going out, luxury look, a summer look and then a look which described your own personal style.

It's all a blur...

Nottingham based party girl, Hannah Lawrence, was uber stylish this New Years Eve wearing a Lisa Moorish inspired outfit, styled by your truly. The pop of colour made her stand out, as recently all the ladies seem to be wearing is black, black, and more black...

What does your front door say about you...?

I've just spent Christmas in Spain with my family, in the seaside town of Cadaques on the Costa Brava. Historically, in this small Catalan town, the doors were traditionally painted to represent the house owner's profession. For example, if your door is painted green it means your trade is the sea, if it's blue it means you are nobility or work for a trade (other than the sea) and if it's painted red it means you have been involved in piracy! Obviously this does not apply to the present day, but the doors are still painted in these three colours! So here are some snaps...
